We are licensed for Civil Ceremonies which as well as allowing you to have The Ceremony and subsequent celebrations in the same venue lets you choose a time and day that suits you (subject to The Registrar's availability). The Ceremony can be held in either of 2 rooms that are licenced, The Derwent & The Cavendish.

How Many

We can seat up to 75 for The Wedding Breakfast rising to 100 for an Evening Reception, both taking place in The Restaurant.

For smaller gatherings The Cavendish provides a more intimate setting for up to 50 guests, day or night (a small dance floor can be incorporated in the room).

You can of course use The Cavendish Room for a sit down meal during the day and then transfer the Evening Reception to the Restaurant if your night time numbers are higher than those in the day.

It is of course possible to use both The Cavendish and Restaurant in conjunction if numbers warrant..

Day or Night

You may opt for either a Wedding Breakfast only or an Evening Reception as well. Generally we do not entertain 'evening' only functions though certain dates maybe available during 'off-peak' times.

How Much

Our charges are based on a fixed price per head for both day and night time. There are no room hire charges. Current costs are:

Wedding Breakfasts - from £20
Evening Buffets - finger buffets from £9.50; hot fork buffets from £13.50

A DJ booked through us will cost £160 (7.30pm - midnight). You are able to use your own if required.

Wedding Drinks and Packages

Various packages are available which provide arrival and meal drinks. These start at £8.50 pp and drinks aside provide other benefits most important of which is a complimentary overnight stay plus breakfast for a couple (usually but not always the Bride and Groom). A top table fresh flower decoration is also provided.

Nice Gardens

The hotel is fortunate to be only a minute's stroll away from The Serpentine Walks, an area of lovely parkland through which the river Wye flows. The area is an ideal setting for photographs. Alternatively the Pavilion Gardens across the road has many places for photo opportunities such as the lake (with the ducks), bandstand or winter gardens.

The Bride Wore Black

Everybody has different styles, hopes and expectations and different ways of expressing them. Our wedding plan for you starts with a blank page; you tell us exactly what's required and we will carry out your wishes (or explain why we cannot). We will listen to whatever menu ideas, table plans, quirky twists or surprises you are planning and come up with a suggested package- the choice is then yours. Any initial viewing or meeting is obligation free.

Best Bedroom in Town

As mentioned, you be entitled to a comlimentary double room if you opt for a Drinks Package. For a small supplement, you can upgrade this to The Ports of Call Suite (subject to availability). Without doubt this is the finest room in town and the perfect way to cap your wedding day-it's almost worth getting married again to spend the night. Even if you have not chosen a drinks package you are still able to book The Ports of Call Suite at the standard tariff - a viewing is a must.

The room is also available to couples hosting their celebrations at other venues making it ideal for that early getaway or a room to enjoy some peace and privacy away from your own party.

Accommodation for Your Guests

The hotel has 37 bedrooms which can be booked on behalf of guests attending the Wedding though during Peak Months we may restrict weekend bookings to 2 night minimum stays only (Friday/Saturday or Saturaday/Sunday). Normally we will offer standard tariffs for ANY 1 night bookings that are accepted (low season discounts may apply). Reduced rates for 2 or more nights may be available if a sufficient number of rooms are booked. Each case is dealt with on an individual basis.
